| Some of the important
features of a digital map are: Layers on which we can provide relevant landmarks for quick reference. For example, we can offer a special layer for windmills, tubs, tanks, lakes, and roads. Changes to those landmarks can easily be modified allowing the map to become a dynamic living reference point. Roads, pasture names and fences will be highlighted on the base map. Users can zoom in on a particular pasture and scrutinize the details of the pasture. Hard copies can be effectively printed and mounted on a frame or the maps can be stored and accessed using your computer. Sophisticated links can be created to link the map to productions databases. For example, you could click on a windmill and see the last time the oil was changed or click on a pasture and see the current number of cattle in the pasture.
